Aniplex announces the U.S. Premiere of The irregular at magic high school The Movie -The Girl Who Summons the Stars- at Anime Expo!

Aniplex of America Inc. announced today at their industry panel at A-Kon (Fort Worth, TX) that they will be premiering the highly anticipated feature film, The irregular at magic high school The Movie -The Girl Who Summons the Stars-. The film will be released in Japan on June 17th, and the U.S. premiere will take place at Anime Expo this summer.

 The premiere will screen the movie with the original Japanese audio along with English subtitles. The crowd was also pleased to hear that the nationwide theatrical release will follow later within the month. Details regarding ticket sales for the theatrical release will be announced at a later date.

Many months have passed and the spring season is almost upon them. The “irregular” elder brother Tatsuya and his smart younger sister Miyuki realize that their first year at Magic High School is about to come to a close. The siblings and their friends decide to spend spring break at a private villa on Ogasawara Island. Tatsuya and the others make the most of their brief vacation until a young girl named Kokoa appears before them. The mysterious young girl who escaped from a naval base tells Tatsuya her one wish…

The irregular at magic high school is an adaptation of the light novel that has sold over 7 million copies, and the animation’s futuristic, almost techno feel has appealed to many viewers. This movie comes three years after the television series ended and the fanfare surrounding the movie’s release is at an all time high. Original author Tsutomu Sato gives the film an all new story that is sure to distinguish itself from the rest of the series.


The staff members of this movie include Kana Ishida (Oreimo) as Chief Animation Director and music by Taku Iwasaki (Gurren Lagann franchise) with the theme song is by GARNiDELiA (Fate/Apocrypha, KILL la KILL). Cast members feature Yuichi Nakamura (Oreimo, Durarara, www.Wagnaria!!) as Tatsuya Shiba, Saori Hayami (Anohana, Nisemonogatari, Sword Art Online) as Miyuki Shiba, Yumi Uchiyama (The Asterisk War, Nisekoi) as Erika Chiba and Sora Amamiya (Aldonah.Zero, Plastic Memories) as Honoka Mitsui.
